The Greater Houston Housing Coalition acts as a conduit between Greater Houston area residents, mortgage servicers, public and non-profit agencies dedicated to providing  homeownership counseling, support and resources for citizens whether they are seeking homeownership or transitioning from homeownership due to foreclosure.

The Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Task Force is currently comprised of the following organizations.

Avenue CDC is a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency and member of the Texas & Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Task Forces.  Avenue CDC provides free foreclosure intervention counseling, homebuyer counseling and education to community members in the greater Houston Metropolitan area.  Avenue CDC’s mission is to improve our community by developing affordable housing and economic opportunities, while preserving our area’s cultural, economic, and historic diversity.

Bank of America – Bank of America serves clients in more than 150 countries and has a relationship with 99 percent of the U.S. Fortune 500 companies

Chase Bank – a leading global financial services firm with assets of $2.1 trillion

City of Houston – City government of the the fourth-largest city in the United States with a population of 2.2 million within an area of 600 square miles.

City of Pasadena – The second largest city in Harris county and the 15th largest city in Texas.

Credit Coalition – The Credit Coalition, a HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency and member of the Texas & Greater Houston  Foreclosure Prevention Task Forces, provides free foreclosure intervention counseling, financial and homebuyer counseling and education, reverse mortgage counseling, guidance, resources and outreach services to community members in the greater Houston and Beaumont/Pt. Arthur areas. The Credit Coalition’s purpose is to empower its clients through financial and home buyer counseling and education, to be able to make informed, reasonable and responsible decisions in regard to their financial and specific housing goals.

Fannie Mae – The Federal National Mortgage Association, Fannie Mae is a government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) chartered by Congress with a mission to provide liquidity, stability and affordability to the U.S. housing and mortgage markets.

FDIC, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation – Federal deposit insurance protects the first $250,000 of deposits that are payable in the United States.

Houston Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas – As part of our nation’s central bank, the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve serves a 41-county area in Southeast Texas. The Federal Reserve was created by Congress to maintain sound money, sustainable economic growth, and a healthy financial system.

GMAC ResCap – a wholly owned subsidiary of GMAC Financial Services providing mortgage and home equity-related investment opportunities for institutional investors and credit for mortgage lenders and commercial borrowers.

Gulf Coast Community Service Associates – GCCSA is one of the largest community action agencies in Texas. Since 1965, we have helped over 500,000 needy families.

Lone Star Legal Aid – provides free civil legal assistance to low-income individuals and families who have immediate needs but cannot afford an attorney.

Money Management International – Nonprofit organization that provides financial guidance, credit counseling, and educational programs to help consumers regain financial control.

NID Housing Counseling Agency – NID-HCA works with non-profits, public agencies and faith-based organizations regarding housing and affordable housing programs in their local communities.

Tejano Center – Mission is to improve life opportunities of low-income children and families through education, social and health services, and community development initiatives.

Wells Fargo – The largest financial institution headquartered in the western U.S.; in the top 20 among all U.S. companies in profits and market value.

Facing the Mortgage Crisis

A Townhall Meeting

Facing the Mortgage Crisis – A Townhall Meeting was a collaboration of Houston PBS, the United Way of Greater Houston, Houston Community Newspapers and the Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Task Force to help people facing foreclosure stay in their home by providing access to information about FREE services available in our community.

This PBS program features the story of a local Missouri City nurse who saved her home from foreclosure and the steps she took. You will also hear from local experts who answer many of the most common questions about foreclosure like what homeowners should do do and where they can get FREE trusted help in the Greater Houston area.
